Harry Potter Gryffindor Scarf Pattern Collection
Let’s try an experiment. Close your eyes and picture Harry Potter in your mind. Ignoring how impractical this request is while reading this page, I bet the image that occurs to you may have been Harry wearing his classic Gryffindor red and yellow striped scarf. This is the scarf that students who belong to the Gryffindor house wear at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It’s also the most common item fans have worn to show their interest.
You’ll notice that there are 2 different Gryffindor scarf designs available. The first appeared in the first 2 movies – The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets. This scarf design has large, equally sized, and alternating sections of maroon and gold. You’ll noticed that the second design is mostly maroon with 2 golden stripes repeated throughout the scarf and appears throughout the rest of the movie series. We’ve had difficulty learning exactly why they made the switch although found one explanation that suggests the younger students wear the first design while the older students the second design. I don’t know if that makes sense but it’s at least something to think about. If you’d rather not think about it, just pick one and go with it or check out some of the other scarves we’ve found from the movie series from other characters.
The scarf is generally a simple project although many pattern makers have come up with their own design giving you many options. You can create one for every Harry Potter fan in your family or each friend so they have a companion when reading through the books or watching the movies. Although we are always interested in seeing the finished projects from our readers, this is one we’re especially keen to see how knitters have taken this simple project and added their own twists.
