Nerdy Projects For Pets
Who said that nerdy knitting projects are only for people? Not us! While scouring the Internet for Nerdy Knits, we stumbled upon some great projects that are made specifically for pets. There are far fewer of these projects out there so be patient as we fill out the list of links. Alternatively, you can always send us any links you find as well.
This one goes well with the Leia 'bun' wig for a cat that we highlighted earlier. We can't advocate hats for pets (they're better on kids!) but this Yoda dog hat is a fun one to check out. A pattern isn't available since this is a made-to-order, finished hat for pugs but we're sure the resourceful knitters out there will find a way to adapt any of the Yoda Hats we've highlighted before for this purpose. The creator, Bernadette Goolsby, does have some other creative pug hats on her Etsy store (although this is the only Star Wars themed one).
If you've been sitting around lately thinking to yourself that you simply haven't expressed your fanatical love for Star Wars enough, we have an item to share that just might do the trick. This beanie hat pattern from Sara Sach on Ravelry will make your pooch the envy of the block as s/he struts around looking like Yoda. Note that this is designed for small dogs in the 2-15 lbs range and is a crochet pattern for sale - not a finished product. As in most cases, you'll find additional photos of this unique project after clicking through.
Given the wide variety of different projects we see, every so often we come across some that cause us to think about adding a new category to those we already have. I'm not sure we have enough examples to warrant a "dog hats" section but if we ever do, this one will be one of the first in it! This is another Kelly Collins creation that we found on her Etsy store. It's a crochet hat that is meant to fit larger dogs but we bet if you asked her nicely, she'd find a way to get you a smaller fit if needed. Visit her site to see a few more photos of different pouches keeping their heads warm.
